April 1, 2019: Warm air masses from the northern Pacific and the Bering Sea resulted in an extremely warm month of March 2019. Ten of the selected 19 stations set new mean monthly temperature records this month. Download our detailed March summary here.

October 1, 2018: September was exceptionally warm and dry in Alaska. Anchorage was one of several Alaska cities where a new September temperature record was set thanks to a persistent ridging patterns that led to warm and sunny weather in September and into October. September 27, 2018: This week the sea ice extent has turned around and has now increased by 5.74% from last week, and is up from last week's level of 4.579 M km2 to 4.857 M km2 for this week. It looks like we are now below the 2017 level for the same time of the year, but the sea ice loss season appears to have ended.
